Expanding Horizons in 2026

In 2025, I retired from a lifetime of hard work - 25 years of teaching history to teenagers and 10 years serving the survival needs of unhoused women in Tucson, plus an assortment of jobs in restaurants and bars as a young woman. My careers were an important part of my identity and very fulfilling on most days. Until they were not, by then I had reached the magical age of retirement. Never one to do nothing, I knew that developing as an artist would fill my next phase of life. The solitude of retirement from a demanding career was rejuvenating and peaceful; in that pause I envisioned a new life that is busy but relaxed, interesting but not stressful, and liberating.

My new work in 2026 continues with some of the composition styles tried in 2025. I am experimenting with simple forms and exploring the power of color. As I write this at the end of May in 2026 I do not know where the next six months of practice will take me. I invite you to follow along for the ride; it promises to be full of color, dynamic composition, and many layers to explore. ‍
